| “I read somewhere once that if you dress
for the kind of life you want, eventually it will happen.
Lo and behold, it did!” shares Cathy Santamaria, the
marketing director of Tian-Di Urban Lifestyle Destination,
a high-end spa, restaurant and wellness facility tucked in
San Juan. “Tian-Di suits my personal style perfectly,”
she continues, “I am a big fan of maxi dresses and tube,
racer back and halter tops paired with fisherman’s pants
and embellished thong sandals that are pretty enough to be
worn day or night.” As a testament to this statement,
Cathy brought to the shoot 10 maxi tube dresses, along with
a casual cool pair of fisherman’s pants paired with
a tube top, a gorgeous multi-use wrap top by Dita Sandico
Ong (she is a big fan of breezy organic fabrics) and pairs
upon pairs of beaded flip flops. |

A model in her younger days, having appeared
in commercials for Pond's, Palmolive Shampoo, Johnson's Baby
Oil and Heno de Pravia, Cathy ventured down a road where very
few pretty faces dare. As a former partner at Deutche Morgan
Grenfell, she was able to retire from the stockbrokerage industry
at the age of 35. In charge of her own time, Cathy was able
to channel the extra energy she had left from raising her
three children—Ignacio, 12 years old, Rocio, 11 years
old and Natalia, three years old—to different business
ventures. She manufactures a clothing label called Lola Couture,
along with a line of embellished thongs under the Atillo label
that she makes and uses herself. She also blends her own line
of fragrances for kids called Bella Bimbi and a home fragrance
line called Scents & Sensibilities. |

It was by chance that she first stumbled upon the stylish
Tian-Di Spa, where the MEGA June cover and Kashieca ad campaign
featuring Bea Alonzo was shot. One night for some much-needed
pampering, she arrived at Tian-Di, but unfortunately, the
spa was already closed when she arrived. Disappointed, she
turned around to leave. Luckily, Steven Uy, one of the owners
chanced upon her and told her "Sorry we are closed, but
for you, we shall open." |

After her session, Cathy and Steven talked and
he told her that Tian-Di Spa needed a woman’s touch.
Within a few months, Cathy found herself working as the spa’s
marketing director—a dream job, according to her, especially
since part of her job description includes
tasting the food, wine and desserts at 8 Resto/Bar
of Tian-Di and road-testing massage services.
In addition to this, the calm and relaxed
atmosphere of Tian-Di suits her personality
and demeanor perfectly. “I really fell in love
with the place,” Cathy confesses. |
